Independent Provider Overtime Process

After an independent provider has worked sixty hours in a work week providing any Medicaid-funded services as an independent provider, that independent provider may provide additional units of services under a home and community-based services Medicaid waiver component administered by the department as an independent provider in that work week only when authorized by the Service and Support Administrator (SSA) for the individual for whom the additional services are provided or due to an emergency. 

  • Requests for overtime exceeding 60 hours shall be submitted to the SSA using page 3 of the Overtime and limit on number of hours in a work week the IP may provide services procedure.
  • Planned overtime requests shall be submitted to the SSA at least 30 days before the planned event.
  • Emergency overtime requests shall be submitted to the SSA within 72 hours of the overage.

June 17th: Supervisor Boot Camp - Essential Skills for New and Experienced Supervisors

This comprehensive foundation course helps supervisors analyze their leadership style, identify strengths and growth areas, and strengthen their overall effectiveness. July 15th: Hiring Right from the Start: Interviewing and Realistic Job Previews

This course focuses on improving hiring decisions in the disability services and human services field. Participants learn how to identify the most important qualities in DSP candidates, design behavior-based interview questions, and conduct more effective interviews. The course also teaches how to deliver realistic job previews that reduce early turnover and improve long-term retention.

July 29th: The Organized Supervisor - Time and Task Management

This course helps supervisors take control of their workload while still effectively leading others. Participants learn how to prioritize, plan, organize, delegate, and manage competing demands. The training focuses on practical, real-world systems that reduce overwhelm, improve follow-through, and create more consistent, intentional leadership.

August 12th: The Ethical Supervisor - Navigating Challenges and Making Sound Decisions

This course guides supervisors through the principles and practice of ethical leadership in disability and human services settings. Participants apply a Supervisor Code of Ethics to real-world scenarios, examine gray areas, and strengthen their ability to make sound, values-based decisions. The training emphasizes accountability, professionalism, trust, and protecting the integrity of the individuals served and the organization.

Ohio Young Adult Advisory Council (OYAC)

The Ohio Young Adult Advisory Council (OYAC) is a statewide initiative focused on elevating the voices of young adults with disabilities and ensuring their lived experiences help shape policies, programs, and services across Ohio. OYAC creates meaningful opportunities for young adults to share their perspectives, influence statewide decisions, and help improve systems designed to support them. Meetings are held virtually twice each month and provide a welcoming, supportive space where every voice matters.
