Electronic Visit Verification

What is Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)?

EVV is a system used by providers to log service hours, specifically the times in which services begin and end.  You can think of it as clocking in and clocking out as you might at another job.  Providers billing homemaker/personal care (15 minute unit), residential respite (15 minute unit), participant-directed homemaker/personal care, waiver nursing, and nursing delegation are required to use EVV.

  • EVV is an electronic reporting system used by providers created to meet requirements in the 21st Century Cures Act.
  • Providers of DD Waiver Nursing, Nursing Delegation, Homemaker/Personal Care and Participant-Directed Homemaker/Personal Care through the I/O, Level 1, and SELF Waivers are required to use EVV.
  • The requirement for DODD providers to use EVV began January 1, 2021 EVV will affect DODD Waiver Provider payments beginning October 1, 2025.
