A Letter from Superintendent Kristine Hodge
Dear people served, families, guardians, providers, and community members,
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the results of the recent levy request. While the outcome was not what we had hoped for, our commitment to people with developmental disabilities, their families, and this community remains unchanged.
Our primary focus continues to be ensuring that critical services and supports are available to those who rely on them each and every day. These services help individuals live with dignity, independence, connection, and purpose, and we take that responsibility seriously.
We recognize that a levy failure brings a level of uncertainty. For the individuals and families who rely on our services, as well as for our employees and community partners, this outcome can raise understandable questions about what comes next. Please know that we are approaching this moment with urgency and a clear focus on supporting the people who depend on us.
Over the coming weeks, we will carefully evaluate our options and work with our Board members to determine what steps will be necessary to attempt to preserve the state-mandated services that we fund. As part of that process, our Board will also consider options for placing a levy back on the ballot in November.
We understand that there are many perspectives within our community, and we are committed to listening, engaging, and providing clear information as we move forward. Your trust matters, and we will continue working to earn it through transparency and responsible stewardship.
To every resident of Delaware County – we are grateful for your support of the people that we serve. To the individuals with developmental disabilities that we support every day – we reaffirm our mission to inspire, empower, and support people to achieve their full potential.
I welcome your questions and feedback. If you would like more information or to share your thoughts, please contact me at Kristine.Hodge@dcbdd.org or 740-201-3601.
Thank you,
Kristine Hodge, Ed.D. Superintendent
