Accessibility and Inclusion Grant

To advance the accessibility of our community and the inclusion of all people, DCBDD has established a grant to assist organizations in becoming more accessible and inclusive (“Grant Funds”).

Within available funding each calendar year, DCBDD may allocate Grant Funds to assist with costs related to:

  • Accessibility projects that meet or exceed the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Education and training programs to help make the community more inclusive for people with developmental disabilities

Grant applications will be evaluated based on their impact on accessibility and inclusion in Delaware County. As part of the application evaluation process, DCBDD may suggest simpler, less expensive alternatives to increase accessibility and inclusion.

Grant Funds are limited to $5,000 per project. Applicants may apply for Grant Funds more than once in a calendar year provided that the total Grant Funds received by the Applicant does not exceed $5,000. Grant Funds may not be used for:

  • Administrative costs
  • Fundraising activities
  • Any other costs as determined by DCBDD not to meet the objectives of the Accessibility and Inclusion Grant guidelines

The Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities will only consider grant requests from organizations in Delaware County. Grant Funds are for reimbursable expenses only and are not intended to cover the entire cost of the project/program. To receive Grant Funds, the Applicant must provide a fifty percent (50%) match to the funds that are being requested (“Matching Funds”). Matching Funds are considered monies, or in-kind contributions, to the project/program. The requirement to provide Matching Funds may be waived at the Board’s sole discretion. Applicants are required to submit copies of their receipts, invoices, canceled checks, and any other information as requested by DCBDD when requesting reimbursement. Grant Funds are not distributed in advance.

Accessibility project applicants must agree to display a plaque near the completed project that states “Accessibility Project funded in part by the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities.” The Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities will provide the plaque at no cost to the applicant. For education and training programs that have been approved for a grant, the applicant must agree to identify the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities as a supporter of the program.
